Why most reed diffusers stop working after 2 weeks?
The reeds dry out. Many diffusers use wooden or rattan reeds or sticks, they absorb oil initially but dry up quickly, clogging up and therefore they don’t draw up any more scent. Flipping them can help for a couple of days. After that, the scent stops travelling again. Amaura's reeds are made from luxury black cotton fibre and they hold fragrance differently, drawing oil more consistently and helping the scent linger for a much longer time than standard wooden reeds ever could.
Most conventional diffusers use an alcohol-based carrier oil. The alcohol will evaporate fast, which is why the first few days smells incredible and then quickly the scent fades fast - leaving you disappointed. The lighter fragrance notes burn off first. What's left is the heavier base sitting in the bottle, barely releasing into the room.
The size of reed diffuser is too small for the space. A 100ml diffuser in a large open-plan room will underperform from the start. Not enough oil volume or not enough surface area to fill the space.
What alcohol-free actually means for performance?
Most people don't know to look for this. The majority of reed diffusers use alcohol as a carrier because it's cheap and creates an impressive throw in-store.
The problem is that it burns off fast.
Alcohol-free formulas use a different base oil, and yes they is a bit more expensive but the one that we use releases fragrance gradually and consistently over time. The first week won't knock you sideways. Three months in, the room still smells the way it did on day one.

How to get the most from your long lasting reed diffuser?
A few habits that make a real difference:

Position near airflow - a doorway or hallway where there's gentle movement. Not direct sunlight or next to a radiator; heat accelerates evaporation and shortens the oil's life.

Start with half the reeds, more reeds means stronger scent but faster oil use. Start with half, adjust once you've calibrated the throw in your space.

Flip once a week - turning the reeds refreshes the draw. More often than that and you're simply burning through the oil faster.

Match volume to room size — 500ml or dot them across different sides of the room more for an open-plan living room or kitchen; 100ml is right for a small bedroom, hallway, or bathroom - Larger spaces will need more
